This policy explains what information Pete’s Aquatics (petesaquatics.com) collects when you visit, why, and the choices you have. Pete’s Aquatics is a freshwater aquarium education site run by one person. It does not sell products or livestock.
Information you give us
- Contact form and email. When you use the contact page or email us, we receive your name, email address and message so we can reply. Messages are used to reply and follow up.
- Email updates. If you sign up for email updates, your email address is stored by our email service provider, MailerLite, and used to send those updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the emails.
- Comments. If comments are open on a post and you leave one, the name, email address and comment you submit are stored with it. WordPress does not display your email address with your comment.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider and the services below receive technical information when you load a page: your IP address, browser and device type, the page you visited, the page that referred you and the time of the visit.
- Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand which guides are useful and how visitors move around the site. It uses cookies or similar identifiers. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Advertising (Google AdSense). Some pages show ads served by Google. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can manage personalized ads in Google Ad Settings or opt out of some third-party vendors at aboutads.info. - Affiliate links. Some product links go to retailers such as Amazon. If you click one, that retailer may set a cookie so it can credit Pete’s Aquatics for a qualifying purchase. See the Affiliate Disclosure.
- Site performance, security and fonts. Images, scripts and web fonts may be delivered through content delivery networks (including Google Fonts), and forms may use spam protection. These services process your IP address to deliver files and block abuse.
Consent choices
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown a consent message from Google before personalized advertising cookies are used, and can revisit that choice through the privacy settings option when it is shown. Visitors in U.S. states with consumer privacy laws are shown an option to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to object to certain uses. To make a request, use the contact page. Requests are handled as required by the law that applies to you.
Children
This site is written for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so it can be removed.
Links to other sites
Guides link to retailers, manufacturers and reference sources. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date.
